GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado was unable to get a win for their seniors on senior night losing 73-65 to Westminster. However, tonight's game won't be the final game of their career as Adams State University lost both of their games to end their season, against Colorado School of Mines (83-58) and Regis University (92-74) – which opened the door for the Mountaineers to slip into eighth place an helped them earn a spot in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference playoffs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Griffins were on a roll to start the game, going on a 9-0 run before Kuzmina scored the first-point of the game for Western sinking a free throw at the 7:14 minute mark of the game. The Mountaineers offense got going after that cutting Westminster's lead to 22-14 before the quarter an end.
- Western offense picked up where they left off in the second quarter, leading to them outscoring the Griffins 12-10. Emmery Wagstaff and Brooklyn Seymour led the charge for the Mountaineers each scoring four-points in the quarter. Kuzmina helped trim the lead to six-points right before halftime sinking two-free throws leading to halftime Western trailing 32-26.
- In the third quarter the Griffins got hot scoring 25-points, which led to their lead growing to 14-points. Sarah McGinley and Abby Mangum were the driving force for Westminster in the third quarter each scoring eight-points apiece. For the Mountaineers Wagstaff and Dalton helped keep them in the game scoring five and four-points in the quarter.
- Western came roaring back in the fourth quarter – their best quarter in the game – cutting the Griffins lead to four-points after a Coleman three-pointer with 4:01 left to go. Minutes later Westminster extend the lead to seven-points on a three-pointer. But, Rachel Cockman sunk a lay-up to trim the lead to five-points. Unfortunately, that was the closest the Mountaineers got from tying the game, as Westminster did just enough to hold of Western and secure the win.
COURT NOTES
- Wagstaff had a good night for Western going 7-of-11 from the field, 4-of-6 from three on her way to a 19-point game. She also grabbed six rebounds in the game. Humbarger led the team in rebounds with seven on the night.
- Despite losing to the Griffins, the Mountaineers were pretty solid on offense, making 46.3-percent (25-54) from the field, 35.3-percent (6-17) from three and 75-percent (9-12) from the free throw line.
- For Westminster, they were led by Ashley Greenwood who had 17-points, McGinley and Lyndzi Rich who both had 14-points and Mangum who pitched in with 13-points.
- The Griffins shot 54.7-percent (29-53) from the field, 38.5-percent (5-13) from three and 76.9-percent (10-13) from the free throw line.

Western will be back in action on Tuesday, March 2 as they will travel to Colorado School of Mines for the Quarterfinals of the RMAC tournament.
