KINGSVILLE, Texas. Western Colorado was in the game early on against Texas A&M – Kingsville. But, midway through the first half the Javelinas offense got going and kept getting hotter as the game progressed, resulting in the Mountaineers losing 78-42.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Things started off good for the Mountaineers, who started the game with a 7-2 run off a three-pointer by Jaelan McCloud, layup by Kade Juelfs and dunk by Robel Desta. Texas A&M – Kingsville responded outscoring Western 8-7 over the next three minutes or so, putting the score at 14-10 in favor of Western with 11:51 left in the first half.
- The Javelinas tied the game up minutes later at 14-points apiece. But, Jonathan McCloud gave the Mountaineers a three-point lead after knocking down the three. Texas A&M – Kingsville responded with a 4-0 run, resulting in them taking a 18-17 lead.
- However, once again McCloud hit another three giving Western a 20-18 lead. With 6:06 left before halftime, the Javelinas offense caught fire, resulting in them starting to separate from the Mountaineers, going on a 14-2 run to close out the quarter. At halftime, Western trailed 22-34.
- Texas A&M offense and defense came out of halftime locked in and ready to go, going on a 15-4 run which lasted six-minutes and 15-seconds.
- Down 49-26, Western continued to fight - McCloud, Jae., knocked down a jumper, Trevin Lieck hit two free throws and Mason Black made a layup, cutting the lead to 49-32.
- That was the closest the Mountaineers got to the lead for the remainder of the game as the Javelinas offense couldn't be stopped.
COURT NOTES
- McCloud, Jae., was the teams leading scorer dropping 11-points. Lieck was right behind him with 10-points of his own. Desta was the leading rebounder with seven, while Syris Williams had two steals in the game.
- As a whole, the Mountaineers shot 28.8 percent (15-of-52) from the field, 19 percent (4-of-21) from three and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the free throw line.
- For Texas A&M – Kingsville, they had three players in double figures (15,11, 10) in the scoring category. As a whole, they shot; 43.3 percent (29-of-67) from the field, 20 percent (2-of-10) from three and 78.3 percent (18-of-23) from the free throw line.

Western Colorado will be home for the first time this season on Friday (Nov. 25) competing in the Inn at Tomichi Inn Thanksgiving Classic, against Simon Fraser and Northern New Mexico (Nov. 26). Both games will be played at 3 p.m.
