SPEARFISH, S.D. Sitting in second-place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings after a tough loss last weekend, Western Colorado will head to Spearfish South Dakota this weekend (Oct. 15) to take on Black Hills State at 12 p.m.

MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Western Colorado suffered a tough 10-38 loss on Saturday (Oct. 8) against South Dakota Mines and know will look to get back on track against Black Hills State – who is 5-1 overall this season and 3-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings. The Mountaineers are also 3-1 in RMAC standings.
- Heading into the weekend, Western has the fourth best offense in RMAC competition, scoring 31.3 points per game. On defense they have the sixth best defense giving up 27.6 points per game.
- Individually, Josh Cummings has the third most rushing yards (346, 84.5 per game) and has added two touchdowns. Connor Desch has the fifth most passing yards (705) and is second in the league in passing touchdowns with 10. Receiving wise, Malik White is the seventh best receiver with 266-yards and tied for a league high five touchdowns.
- Carson Mandrell is leading the RMAC in tackles in RMAC games with 39, 3.5 tackles for loss and has one sack. Darrious Gaines has the most passes broken up with seven. While Ethan Sanchez-Maxwell is tied for second with two interceptions.
YELLOW JACKETS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Similar to the Mountaineers, the Yellow jackets suffered a tough 28-30 loss to New Mexico Highlands last week – which was their first loss of the season.
- As a team, Black Hills State has the sixth best offense scoring 28.8 points per game and fifth best defense only giving up 24.5 points per game.
- In the run game Nolan Susel has the sixth most rushing yards (229, 57.3 per game) and has four touchdowns on the ground. Chance Eben has 555 passing yards and has also thrown three touchdowns. TJ Chukwurah is their best receiver with 290 yards ninth in the RMAC and has three touchdowns (Tied for third).
- Ryder Blair is the Yellow Jackets best tackler with 32 in RMAC games and Cooper Brown has the second most tackles for loss with six. Brown also has three sacks which is fifth in the RMAC. Klaus Souffrant and Lovenski Simon both have five passes defended (tied for third). Souffrant also has two interceptions which is tied for second.
