GUNNISON, Colo. Coming off two losses against two tough opponents – Westminster, Colorado Mesa – the Mountaineers will look to snap their two-game losing streak on Tuesday (Feb. 1), when they take on Colorado Christian University on the road at 5 p.m.
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Western will need to get their offense going in order to snap this two-game losing streak – shooting 26.5 percent over the last two games. However, they showed stretches of great offense, against the Griffins and Mavericks, that they will try to put together for four quarters.
- That might not be an easy task if Samantha Coleman isn't in the lineup – missed the last two games – as she is one of the Mountaineers top scorers. Coleman averages 11.1-points (No. 17 RMAC) per game in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 38.6 percent (No. 4 RMAC) from three.
- Western still does have Grace Kirscher – who also averages 11.1-points (No. 18 RMAC)– and Katie Dalton who scores 10.5-points. Dalton shoots 57.3 percent from the field, while Kirscher shoots 37.4 percent from the field and 32.1 percent (No. 10 RMAC) from three.
- The Mountaineers are currently in eighth place (6-6) in the RMAC standings with 10 games left in the season.
COUGARS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Colorado Christian, similar to Western, is also on a losing streak of their own as they have lost their last six games. The Cougars are currently in 13th place in the RMAC standings.
- While Colorado Christian is in 13th place, they average the same number of points as the Mountaineers, averaging 58.9-points per game.
- The Cougars are led by Haley Hanson who averages 10.4-points (No. 25 RMAC) on 34.5 percent shooting from the field.
- Lourdes Gonzalez and Jordyn Brown are also threats on offense averaging 9.2 and 9.1-points. Gonzalez is the leading rebounder for Colorado Christian grabbing 9.3 boards a game.
