GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado volleyball opens up the 2021 season with four matches at the Kathleen Brasfield ASU Invitational in San Angelo, Texas. The Mountaineers will play two matches on Friday and two matches on Saturday.
On Friday, the team will play Texas A&M University – Kingsville at 9 a.m. (MT), then will take on Angelo State University at 5 p.m. (MT). Saturday's matches will begin at 9 a.m. (MT) with Western Colorado playing Northwestern Oklahoma State University and then will face off against East Central University at 1 p.m. (MT).
In the 2021 RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Mountaineers came in tied for the No. 8 spot in the conference. During the shortened spring 2021 season, the Mountaineers finished with a 6-8 overall record and a 6-7 record in the conference, giving them their first RMAC Tournament appearance since 2015.
This season the Mountaineers have 10 returners from last year's roster along with a lot of new talent. Of those 10 returners, two were named RMAC Players to Watch for the upcoming season, with
Jordyn Todd and
Caroline Parker receiving the recognition.
