SAN ANTONIO --- The Western Colorado women's soccer team got a pair of goals from
Caileen Sienknecht and another from
Casey Ober, but fell to St. Mary's (TX) on the road 6-3 on Friday night at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
The high-scoring affair begain in the 17th minute when St. Mary's (2-2)Â Juni Ejere scored the first of her two goals to make it 1-0.Â
The Mountaineers (2-2) tied the contest 13 minutes later on Sienknecht's first goal of the contest before the Rattlers scored in the 39th minute to take a 2-1 lead into the half.
St. Mary's scored two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half to make it 4-1 before Sienknecht scored her second goal of the game in the 62nd minute to make it 4-2 St. Mary's. The goal was assisted by
Jessie Jacobsen.
But the Rattlers scored two more goals to take a 6-2 lead before Ober scored just before the final horn to make the final 6-3.Â
The Mountaineers were outshot 24-10, including 16-7 in shots on goal. Ober and Jacobsen led the team with three shots apiece.Â
Western Colorado returns to action Sunday as it takes on Texas A&M International in Laredo.
