GUNNISON, Colo. --- The Western Colorado women's soccer team opens its five-game RMAC schedule noon Sunday as it travels to Fort Lewis for its last road contest of the regular season.
Due to COVID-19 and a shortened season, the RMAC was split into two divisions with Western Colorado in a division with Fort Lewis, Colorado Christan, Colorado School of Mines, CSU Pueblo and Adams State. The top four in each conference will make the RMAC Tournament with standings being determined by points per match (total points - three for a win, one for a tie - divided by games played).

Western Colorado played an exhibition match against Salt Lake Community College on Monday, but last played a regular season contest on March 15 at home - a 5-0 loss to Colorado Mesa.Â
Caileen Sienknecht leads Western with one goal on the season while
Laura Pelino has a team-high nine shots and four shots on goal.
Grace Walker has played 260 of the team's 360 minutes and owns a 2.77Â GAA with 23 saves and a 0.742 save percentage.
Kaeyla Noble has returned and has played the other 100 minutes for the Mountaineers.Â

The Skyhawks are coming off a 4-1 win at Adams State on Saturday - getting a goal each from Madyson Barela, Corinne Sanderson, Aubrey Swindle and Julia Johnson while Charlie Kaiser and Elizabeth David each had an assist.
On the season, Johnson and Swindle lead the team with two goals apiece. As a team, the Skyhawks have allowed three goals in three games led by Katherine Dunbabin who has played 288 of the team's 310 minutes this season at keeper with 11 saves, a 0.62 GAA and a 0.846 save percentage.
THE MOUNTAINEERS VS. FORT LEWIS ALL-TIME
The Mountaineers are 2-6-2 all-time against the Skyhawks, dropping their last three meetings against them. The last win against Fort Lewis came Sept. 10, 2017, in Gunnison - a 1-0 victory. In Durango, Western Colorado is 0-3-1 against the Skyhawks.

The Mountaineers have a new coach heading into this season as
Amanda Raso takes over. Raso spent the previous two seasons at NCAA Division I North Dakota where she supervised the goalkeepers during two of the most successful seasons in Fighting Hawks D-I history. The Aurora, Colorado, native was also an assistant coach at Fort Lewis (2015-17), played for the Skyhawks (2010-14) and also served as a graduate assistant at Midwestern State.
- MOUNTAINEERS PICKED 12TH IN RMAC PRESEASON COACHES POLL (RELEASE)
The Western Colorado women's soccer team was picked 12th in the RMAC when the conference released its preseason coaches poll. The Mountaineers went 3-13-1 in 2019, including 3-9-1 in RMAC play to finish 11th in the conference. This will be the first season under new coachÂ
Amanda Raso for Western Colorado as well as its first season on the new Katy O. Rady Field.
