Location: Paul Wright Gymnasium; Gunnison, Colo.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Regis got off to a hot start, racing out to an 8-0 forcing the Mountaineers to call a timeout and regroup. That appeared to help, as Matthew Ragsdale knocked down a three a minutes later.
- Western did all they could to get back into the game. However, turnovers killed the Mountaineers leading to the Rangers holding a 10-point lead at halftime.
- Outside of struggling to hold onto the ball - turning the ball over 10 times if the first half - Western did a good job offensively, shooting 50% from the field and 42.9% from three. Regis shot 57% from the field and 41.7% from three in the first half.
- Coming out of halftime, things got worse for the Mountaineers as they struggled to make shots (9-of-36, 25%). The Rangers continued their hot night of shooting (14-of-25, 56%).
- Unfortunately, that led to Regis holding onto their 10-point lead and it growing substantially before the final horn was sounded.
