Las Vegas, N.M. --- The Western Colorado women's soccer team dropped its third RMAC game of the season after falling to New Mexico Highlands 2-1 on Friday at Old Memorial Field.

The Cowgirls of N.M. Highlands got off to a hot start scoring two goals in the first half, with a goal from Desire Hermosillo and a penalty kick made by Valeria Baca. The Mountaineers fought back in the second half as
Natasha Kasozi score a goal for Western Colorado giving the team a chance at tying it up with just over 22 minutes left.

N.M. Highlands held tough, only allowing four more shots in those 22 minutes, with two being on target and saved by the keeper, giving the Cowgirls the 2-1 victory.

Western Colorado took nine shots, having six on target while N.M. Highlands took 24 shots with 16 on target.

Laura Pelino led the Mountaineers with four shots while Kasozi had two shots, with one finding its way to the back of the net.
Kaeyla Noble was again strong in goal for Western Colorado with 12 saves.

The Mountaineers will now travel to Lakewood, Colo. where they will face Colorado Christian University on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 12 p.m.
