GUNNISON --- The Western Colorado women's basketball team at 3-0 is off to its best start since starting 4-0 in 1980 and coach
Lora Westling was honored for her team's start by being named the WHoopDirt.com Coach of the Week on Monday.
The week for the Mountaineers included an 84-69 win at home against Fort Lewis on Tuesday before defeating MSU Denver 67-51 on Saturday on the road thanks to outscoring the Roadrunners 29-9 in the fourth quarter.

With the honor, Westling is now eligible for the WHoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award.
Westling, who guided the Mountaineers last season to their first NCAA Tournament berth, is fourth on Western's all-time wins list with 55 victories while she ranks third in program history with 45 RMAC wins. She also has led the Mountaineers to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1985-86 and 1986-87.
Western returns to action Wednesday as the Mountaineers have added an exhibition game at Air Force with tip-off at 5 p.m.
