GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado volleyball prepares to host two conference matches on Friday and Saturday in Paul Wright Gym. Making the trip to Gunnison for the weekend will be Dixie State University on Friday to play at 7 p.m. and Westminster College on Saturday to play at 5 p.m.

The Mountaineers currently rank sixth in the RMAC rankings with their 6-5 overall and 2-1 RMAC record. Â

THE MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2019 SEASON STATS
Last Tuesday, the Mountaineers hosted their home opener against Colorado Mesa, falling to the Mavericks 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20) as they dropped to 2-1 in conference play.

During Tuesday's match, Western Colorado dropped the lead early in the first set and tried to hold on, but the Mavericks went on to win the first set 25-18. The Mountaineers built up some momentum during the second set, holding a two point lead, only to let Colorado Mesa come back and claim a 25-20 victory. The third and final set was dominated by the Mavericks early, then they maintained their lead to win 25-20.

Leading WCU in kills on Tuesday night's game was freshman
Jordyn Todd who was able to record 10 kills in the three sets played. Juniors
Hanna Hendrickson and
Lyria Brook also heavily contributed, as Hendrickson recorded 27 assists and Lyria had eight digs on the night. Both
Emilee Scates and
Myles Hilbert recorded six digs during the match.
