GUNNISON, Colo. --- The Western Colorado women's soccer team looks to continue to improve heading into RMAC play as the Mountaineers take on Newman 4 p.m. Friday and Nebraska-Kearney 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Colorado Mesa's Walker Field in Grand Junction.

THE MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ | 2019 SEASON STATS
Western dropped their first two games of the season last week, falling to Western Oregon 6-0 in Alamosa on Friday before nearly coming from behind against Colorado Mesa during a 2-1 loss Sunday in Grand Junction.
In the loss to the Mavericks - a non-RMAC contest - Western fell behind 2-0 after goals by CMU in the 22nd and 57th minute before the Mountaineers'
Missa Webb ripped a shot that bounced off the left post and scored in the 58th minute to make it 2-1. But Western couldn't find the equalizer in the final 32 minutes and fell to the Mavs.
Kaeyla Noble was strong in goal for the Mountaineers, picking up nine saves in the contest.
Western last played Newman last season, falling to the Jets 2-0, while the Mountaineers last faced Nebraska-Kearney in 2017, losing to 1-0.

NEWMAN HEADING INTO THIS WEEKÂ | 2019 SEASON STATS
The Jets went 1-0-1 last week in opening their 2019 season, beginning the year with a 0-0 tie against Southwest Baptist on Friday and defeating Drury 2-0 on Saturday - both games on the road.
In the win over Drury, Newman got a goal in each half with Kennedy Weaver scoring in the first half (assisted by Kaitlyn Logan) and Kyla Kreemer scoring in the second half (assisted by Selina Vidhammer). Jackie Lari has played all 200 minutes for the Jets at goalkeeper and hasn't allowed a goal on 14 shots faced with four saves.

NEBRASKA-KEARNEY HEADING INTO THIS WEEKÂ | 2019 SEASON STATS
The Lopes opened the season playing to a pair of scoreless ties against MSU-Moorhead on Friday and Wayne State on Sunday. Nebraska-Kearney wasn't without its chances as it took 17 shots in the two games - including 13 on goal. At keeper, Allie Prososki has played all 220 minutes and has 15 saves in the two contests - including 11 against Wayne State.
