GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Western Colorado University men's basketball ended the 2018-19 regular season on Friday night in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Mountaineers fell to the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks, 83-63.

Western (6-22, 3-19 RMAC) started the game with a three-pointer from Cole Sienknecht to take a 3-0 lead. The Mountaineers held the lead until the 7:45 mark of the first half. Western led by as many as seven points in the first 11 minutes.

Sienknecht, along with Brady Subart, paced the Mountaineers in scoring. Each scored 13 points. Subart also led the team with six assists.

CMU (19-9, 14-8 RMAC) pushed the lead to nine points by halftime, taking a 37-28 lead into the break.

The Mountaineers cut the Maverick lead to eight points following another Sienknecht three-point field goal at the 14:08 mark of the second half. However, it would be as close as Western would come to overtaking CMU on their home court in the second half.

Western had two other players reach double figures in scoring. Monroe Porter recorded his third double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and leading the team with 10 rebounds. James Willis also added 11 points, making three three-point field goals.

The Mountaineers end the season 16th in the final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings, but won the final three-of-four games to end the season.
