COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- The Western Colorado men's basketball team fell to University of Colorado Colorado Springs 69-50 on Saturday at Gallogy Events Center.
 
The Mountaineers (3-5 overall, 0-2 RMAC) were within striking distance still when 
Cole Sienknecht drained a 3-pointer at the 15:52 mark in the second half to make it 40-32 Mountain Lions (5-2, 2-1).
 
But WCU went cold while UCCS went on a 21-0 run over the next 8:08 before an 
Avery Rembao free throw ended the drought at the 7:44 mark in the second half to make it 61-33. The Mountainer kept fighting and closed the game on an 18-8 run to make the final deficit 19 points.
 
Sienknecht led WCU with 13 points and eight rebounds while Rembao had 10 points and four rebounds in 16 minutes of action.
 
Early on WCU led for a solid chunk of the first half before UCCS ended the first 20 minutes on an 8-2 run to take a 30-23 lead into the half.
 
WCU returns home Friday to take on Chadron State at 7:30 p.m.
