GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. --- Western Colorado's
Samantha Coleman tied a program record for 3-pointers in a game as the Mountaineers took care of business in its final game before RMAC play begins by defeating University of the Southwest 78-53 Saturday at the Holiday Inn – Airport Thanksgiving Classic at Brownson Arena.

Coleman tied a WCU (2-2) record with seven 3-pointers on her way to a career-high 25 points. She is the fourth Mountaineer to hit seven 3-pointers in a game with it most recently done last season by
Chandler Willis against Fort Lewis.
WCU (2-2) was paced by a big first half from Coleman as the junior had 16 points in the opening 20 minutes as the Mountaineers led USW (1-8) 39-20 at the half. The lead grew to as large as 36 points in the second half (76-40).

Coleman finished 7-for-12 from 3-point range on her way to a game-high 25 points to go along with tying a team-high with six rebounds.
Gabie Doud had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and a block for the Mountaineers while
Jessie Erickson added 10 points, four assists and two boards.

As a team, the Mountaineers shot 45.9 percent from the field, including going 10-for-28 (35.7 percent) from 3-point range. WCU also dominated the glass, outrebounding USW 51-25 in a game where the Mountaineers led all but 35 seconds of the contest and never trailed.

WCU had an impressive 25 assists on 28 field goals made in the contest as well.

The Mountaineers open their RMAC schedule on the road as they travel to take on Colorado School of Mines on Friday and UCCS on Saturday.
