Box Score CHADRON, Neb. --- Western Colorado volleyball comes up short to the Eagles of Chadron State College. Despite the Mountaineers vigorous play in the third set, the Mountaineers fall 3-1 to the Eagles.

In the third set, the lead went back and forth throughout the set until it was tied 23-23.
Jordyn Todd earned the kill to give the Mountaineers (7-7 overall, 3-3 RMAC) the lead at 24-23, the Eagles (9-4 overall, 3-2 RMAC) then answered tying it up at 24-24.
Emilee Scates responded taking it to set point at 25-24, as the Eagles answered. Scates earned another kill, then stepped as up and served the game winning point giving the Mountaineers a 27-25 victory.

The Mountaineers earned the first point in set one of the match, but it went downhill from there as the team had two early service errors. Western Colorado spent the rest of the set trying to recover but eventually fell to a 25-14 loss.

Western Colorado came out strong early in the second set as they went on a 5-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. Through many long rallies and tough points the Mountaineers allowed the Eagles to come back from a 24-19 deficit with a 7-0 run to win their second set 26-24.

The Eagles came out hot in the fourth set with a 5-0 run. As the Mountaineers slowly crept back into the game coming within one point at 15-16. They then managed to tie it up at 17-17 with a kill from Todd. Then with a block from
Hanna Hendrickson and Mandy Johnson Western Colorado took the lead 18-17. With the score tied at 19-19 the eagles went up 21-19 before Western Colorado used a timeout. Unfortunately the eagles went on to edge out the Mountaineers 25-22.

Jordyn Todd led the Mountaineers in digs and kills with 28 digs and 17 kills on the night, receiving most of those assists from junior
Hanna Hendrickson who lead the team with 39 assists. As a team the Mountaineers recorded three blocks on the night, coming from
Kirsten Companik,
Maddy Johnson, and
Brianna Hardy.

Western Colorado will be back on the court Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. as they head to Denver to take on MSU-Denver.
