SPEARFISH, S.D. --- The Western Colorado women's soccer team started well as the Mountaineers took a 1-0 lead on Black Hills State after
Casey Ober converted a penalty kick in the 16th minute.
But the Yellow Jackets scored four unanswered goals over a 35-minute span to beat WCU 4-2 on Friday at Ronnie Theisz Field.
BHSU (2-6-1 overall, 2-2-1 RMAC) scored a goal in the 35th minute to tie the game at 1-1 - the same score it would be at halftime. The Yellow Jackets then scored goals in the 49th, 52nd and 71st minute to make it 4-1. The Mountaineers (0-8-1, 0-4-1) pulled within two when
Missa Webb scored in the 89th minute, but that's as close as WCU would get.
The Mountaineers took 11 shots (four on goal) compared to 19 (eight on goal) for the Yellow Jackets.Â
WCU returns to action Sunday as the Mountaineers take on Regis in Denver.
