SALT LAKE CITY – A big first half by the Westminster College Griffins was the difference Friday night against Western State Colorado University. The Mountaineers fell on the road, 90-66.

After defeating the Griffins in the first meeting, Western was unable to complete the season sweep.

Westminster (17-3, 13-3 RMAC) got out to an early lead and never looked back.

At halftime, Western (9-14, 7-10 RMAC) trailed, 47-25.

In the second half, Western's offense began to click with the Mountaineers shooting over 60 percent from the field.
Â
However, it was not enough as the Griffins were able to maintain their lead and take a conference victory.

Collin Smith led Western with 15 points. Teammate
Brady Subart scored 14, while
Cameron McCurry added 13.

The Mountaineers will continue the season next Friday at home against the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks.
