MBB | Western looks for wins on the road

Pregame social at Brooklyn's prior to the MSU Denver game Sunday

GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University returns to the road this weekend for two games against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents. First, Western will challenge Chadron State College at the Chicoine Center on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Following up, Western plays Metropolitan State University of Denver at 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

On the road, Western (3-6, 0-3 RMAC) will look to return to their winning ways. Thus far, all but one of Western's wins have come on neutral or away courts. This weekend, Western will get to chances to add to that tally.

Offensively minded, Western is averaging 82 points per game across the season. Accounting for a majority of those points are Quincy Harding, Brady Subart, and Jaire Roberts. Currently, Harding leads the RMAC in scoring at 22.1 points per game. Subart and Roberts have each had big games for the Mountaineers and average 14.8 and 13.6 points per game, respectively.

In Nebraska, Western faces a Chadron State (4-5, 2-1 RMAC) team that looks stouter than their record might indicate.

The Eagles started conference play with back to back wins over MSU Denver and Colorado Christian University before succumbing to Regis University 68-81.

Statistically, Chadron proves a counter-point to Western. The Eagles only average 68.3 points per game, but have managed to hold their opponents to 70.4 on a mere 41.8% shooting from the floor.

Michael Sparks and Colby Jackson lead the Eagle attack on offense.

Early in the season, MSU Denver (2-4, 1-2 RMAC) proves to be a statistically middling team.

The Roadrunners are only averaging 69.5 points per game on 42.8% shooting, but have consistently out-rebounded their opponents.

Individually, Druce Asah provides the biggest scoring threat for MSU Denver with 16.0 points per game.

Along with Western Women's Basketball, the Mountaineers will be hosting a pregame social on Sunday at Brooklyn's near the Pepsi Center. All Western fans and Dunk Club members are encouraged to attend from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Appetizers will be provided with a cash bar.

For those who can't make it to Denver this weekend, the live stream and stats can be found in the story links above. Be sure to check back to gomountaineers.com for full recaps of all the action.
