OREM, Utah. – Western Colorado University took to the road against Utah Valley University for their second exhibition contest of the season. Unfortunately a slow-shooting night proved too much for Western as they fell 59-82.
Despite leading for the first 9:30 seconds, Western (3-3 0-0 RMAC) could not overcome 24.4% shooting in the second half while Utah Valley (4-3 0-0 WAC) maintained a consistent shooting presence at 47.1% on the night.
Quincy Harding led Western with 12 points, six rebounds, and one assist. While Harding was the only Mountaineer in double-figures, ten Mountaineers scored on the night. Western had a strong presence off the bench with 25 points.
Have the tied the game at 20-20 with just over nine minutes remaining in the first half, UVU went on a 15 point run to gain the edge.
That gap would prove too much for Western as the buckets would not fall in the second half.
Western returns to the court to open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play against Colorado Mesa University at 7:00 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
