MBB | Lions get better of shorthanded Mountaineers

GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University Men's Basketball wrapped up a four-game home stand on Saturday night. The Mountaineers hosted Texas A&M University – Commerce in the final game of the 2018 Comfort Inn Classic, falling to the Lions 84-76.
 
Despite being shorthanded, Western (1-3, 0-0 RMAC) kept pace with TAMUC (4-1, 0-0 LSC) for most of the game.
 
The Mountaineers had three score in double figures, led by freshman Cole Sienknecht's 24 points. Jaire Roberts added 20 points and Jake Wilcox scored 10 for Western.
 
Western made four more field goals than the Lions, but TAMUC shot 36 free throws to the Mountaineers' 12.
 
Monroe Porter led Western in rebounding, grabbing seven off the glass.
 
Western will continue the season next weekend at the Colorado Mesa University Holiday Inn – Airport Thanksgiving Classic, starting on Friday.
