MBB | Mountaineers shock Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For just the second time in program history, Western Colorado University knocked-off Division I Air Force Academy on Thursday night. Although it was just an exhibition game, the Mountaineers came away with a 20-point win over the Falcons on the road.

Western dominated from start to finish in the first game of the 2018-19 season. The Mountaineers held the lead for 38:14 of the game's 40 minutes.

The three-point threat was in full action for Western as they totaled 15 made three-pointers in the game, shooting 51.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Eight of those three-point field goals were made in the first half, giving Western a 43-28 lead at halftime.

Four of the Mountaineers' starting five reached double digits in the scoring column. Quincy Harding led Western with 15 points, followed by Monroe Porter's 15, Brady Subart's 15 and Jackson Ehrlin's 10.

Porter led all players in rebounding, grabbing 10 boards for the double-double.

Western controlled the tempo and limited turnovers against the Falcons on their home court, giving the ball away just nine times.

The Mountaineers open the regular season next Friday against fourth-ranked West Texas A&M University at home in Paul Wright Gym.
