DENVER – Two Western State Colorado University men's basketball players scored 20 points to help the Mountaineers score 42 second half points against Regis University on Friday night. However, Western was unable to stop the Rangers, falling 87-75.

Western (4-10, 2-6 RMAC) held Regis (11-3, 5-3 RMAC) to 36 points in the first half and trailed by just three points heading into halftime.

Both teams' offenses clicked in the second half. However, the Rangers outscored the Mountaineers 51-42 in the second stanza to take an 87-75 win.

The Mountaineers began the game by tearing apart the Ranger defense. Western was out to a 12-point lead, 14-2, after the first 3:09. Western held the lead until 26 seconds remained in the first half.

Quincy Harding and
Collin Smith both contributed 20 points for the Mountaineers. Smith also grabbed seven rebounds.

Monroe Porter also scored in double figures for the Mountaineers, adding 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Regis' Dexter Sienko led all players with 26 points.

The Mountaineers will return to the court Saturday night on the road against Chadron State College at 7:30 p.m.
