NAMPA, Idaho – Western State Colorado University women's soccer opened the season on Thursday in Idaho. It was also the season opener for the Mountaineers' opponent, Dixie State University. Western was unable to earn a win in their first match of the season, losing to the Trailblazers 3-0.

Western (0-1, 0-0 RMAC) played from behind for most of Thursday's match. DSU (1-0, 0-0 PacWest) got on the board in the fourth minute, scoring off a rebound.

Although the Mountaineers were outshot 11-3 in the first half, Western managed to get into dangerous positions and forced DSU to defend.

However, the Trailblazers found themselves ahead 2-0 after Darian Murdock scored her second goal of the match in the 30
th minute. Again, her goal came of a rebound.

At the half, Western was behind two goals, but far from out of the picture.

A back and forth affair followed in the second half as both teams tried to convert their opportunities into goals.

DSU's Murdock put the match away, completing the hat trick in the 85
th minute to give the Trailblazers a 3-0 victory.

Jessie Jacobsen each tallied a shot in the match.
Emilie Eckhart played all 90 minutes in net, making seven saves.

The Mountaineers will have their chance to rebound on Saturday when they face Academy of Art University at 11:30 a.m. in Nampa, Idaho.
