DURANGO, Colo. – Western State Colorado University was unable to sweep the weekend following a 68-54 loss to Fort Lewis College on Saturday night. After defeating Adams State University the night before, the Mountaineers' upset bid against No. 20 FLC fell short.

Western (4-6, 1-3 RMAC) and FLC (8-1, 3-1 RMAC) played to a 16-16 tie in the first quarter. However, the Skyhawks took a five-point lead into halftime, 26-31.

Only four players scored in the first half for FLC and two players accounted for 24 of the team's 31 points.

On the other side, Western had eight players reach the scoring column in the first half.
Katie Dalton led the way with eight points. Dalton would score 11 points in the second half to pace Western with 19 points.

The Skyhawks pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Mountaineers 21-15. FLC solidified the win with a 16-point fourth quarter.

The Mountaineers outrebounded the Skyhawks 40-35, while blocking a game-high four rebounds and grabbing 10 steals.

FLC's Vivian Gray led the game in scoring with 24 points.

Western returns home to continue the season next Friday at 5:30 p.m. against New Mexico Highlands University.
