GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University men's basketball hosts their first home Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game Saturday. Western takes on Westminster College at 7:00 pm. There will be a foam finger giveaway and fans are encouraged to come in costume as they support the Mountaineers. The best costume will win a Mountaineer Basketball shirt.
Following the home game against Westminster, the Mountaineers hit the road for two exhibition games against University of Northern Colorado on Sunday and the Air Force Academy on Monday. Including the exhibitions against DI competition, the Mountaineers will play three games in as many nights.
After falling to Colorado Mesa University on Tuesday in a renewed rivalry that has seen the last three matchups decided by a total of three points, Western (2-5, 0-1 RMAC) looks ahead to Westminster (4-0, 0-0 RMAC).
Despite being on the short-end of several tight games, Western brings a potent offensive attack to Paul Wright Gym this weekend. The Mountaineers are averaging 83 points per game while shooting 43% from the field and 32% from three-point.

Collin Smith leads Western, averaging 17.7 points per game and 7 rebounds. Three other Mountaineers are averaging double-digit point production as
Ben Beauchamp has 15.9,
Brady Subart 12.9, and
Quincy Harding 11.6 points per game.
The multi-dimensional Mountaineers face an undefeated Griffins squad lead by Dayon Goodman. Goodman is averaging 28.6 points per game for the Griffins. With only one other player scoring in the double-digits, Goodman represents 36% of Westminster's scoring threat.
Following the Westminster game, Western heads to Greeley, Colorado to play
Northern Colorado on Sunday before heading to Colorado Springs for a match-up with the
Air Force Academy.
