CANYON, Texas – For the second straight game Western State Colorado University men's basketball played a ranked opponent. The Mountaineers earned a first half lead but were unable to come away with an upset, losing to No. 21 West Texas A&M University 63-83.

Western (0-2, 0-0 RMAC) started right where they had left off the night before, shooting 48.28 percent (14-for-29) from the field to open the first half against WTAMU (2-0, 0-0 LSC).

The Mountaineers had a 33-32 lead after the first 20 minutes, despite not going to the free throw line once on the road in Texas.

Quincy Harding paced the Mountaineers in the first half, scoring 12 points in the first 20 minutes.

Against WTAMU, the Mountaineers were at the line for six shots, while the Buffs shot a total of 20 free-throws.

Brady Subart helped keep the Mountaineer upset alive, scoring 11 points in the second half. Subart led the team with 19 points.

Western returns home for their season opener against Embry-Riddle next Friday night, Nov. 17 in the first game of the Comfort Inn Classic.
