GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – After falling behind in the first half, Western State Colorado University outscored Colorado Mesa University in the following two quarters. However, the comeback fell short as the Mountaineers fell to the Mavericks 61-49 on the road.

Western (5-15, 4-12 RMAC) trailed 20-37 at halftime against CMU (15-5, 12-4 RMAC). The Mountaineers came out of the break and were back in the game after outscoring the Mavericks 13-9 in the third quarter.

Western continued the comeback in the fourth quarter, but were unable to complete the feat.

Brianna Wilber led the Mountaineers in scoring with 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.

CMU's Bryanna Adams led all players in scoring with 19 points.

Western returns home for a 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mountaineers host Westminster College for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night.
