WBB | Mountaineers unable to overcome Hardrockers

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Western State Colorado University women's basketball was close in all four quarters of Friday night's game against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. However, the Hardrockers edged the Mountaineers in all four, coming away with a 53-37 win.
 
Western (4-14, 3-11 RMAC) got out to a fast start and led SDSMT (9-11, 7-8 RMAC) 12-11 with 1:43 left in the first quarter.
 
The Hardrockers then went on a 5-0 run to end the quarter, taking a 16-12 lead. SDSMT held the lead for the rest of the game against Western.
 
Western was outscored by five points or more in only one quarter on Friday. The Mountaineers only faltered in the third quarter, being outscored by seven points, 9-2.
 
Brianna Wilber led Western in scoring with nine points. Mackenzie Tucker added six points and five rebounds.
 
SDSMT's Molly McCabe and Anna Haugen led the game in scoring with 10 points.
 
Western will continue the season tomorrow in Spearfish, South Dakota as they face Black Hills State University at 4 p.m.
