GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's basketball got out to a fast start against Metro State University Denver on Saturday. The Roadrunners were able to catch the Mountaineers in the second half and defeated Western 60-55.

After outscoring MSUD (11-9, 7-6 RMAC) 13-12 in the first quarter, Western (4-13, 3-10 RMAC) put more distance between themselves and the Roadrunners in the second quarter. At halftime, the Mountaineers led 32-20.

During this weekend's home stand, Western outscored opponents by a combined 19 points.

In the second half, the Mountaineers weren't as successful and by the start of the fourth quarter, MSUD had a 41-38 lead.

Despite scoring 17 points in the fourth, Western was unable to chip away at the Roadrunner lead, falling 60-55.

Forward
Mackenzie Tucker led the Mountaineers in scoring with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting (66.7 percent) from the field.

Western's defense played a big part of the team's success in the first half, holding MSUD to just 24 percent shooting from the field (6-of-25).

Roadrunner forward Georgia Ohrdorf led the game in scoring with 21 points, grabbing nine rebounds.

Western will start a three-game road trip starting next weekend when they travel to South Dakota to face South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and Black Hills State University.
