GUNNISON – Western State Colorado University women's volleyball senior
Allison Walker has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference setter of the Week for the first week of competition. Walker will lead the Mountaineers (3-1, 0-0 RMAC) to Pueblo, Colorado this weekend to compete in the CSU Pueblo Tournament.
Â
Walker tallied 165 total assists in the Oredigger Classic. She had her fourth career 50-assist performance against Dallas Baptist with 52 assists. The senior setter also notched 27 digs and eight kills to end the weekend.
Â
Walker's performance puts her with the most assists per set in the RMAC after the opening week. Joining her atop the conference charts are
Tori Gaherty with the most number of aces and
Amanda Maestas with the most digs.
Â
The Mountaineers will look to continue their success in the CSU Pueblo Tournament this weekend. The team will go up against RMAC foes CSU Pueblo and Adams State in two non-conference matchups, then will take on Nova Southeastern University and have a rematch against Wayne State College. The Mountaineers took the then No.6-ranked Wildcats to four-sets, including leading most of the third set that would've favored the Mountaineers two sets to one. The Wildcats have moved up to the No.3-ranked team in the nation after last week and will provide a good national competition for the Mountaineers.
