GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University's
Taylor Long (So., Moreno Valley, California) scored 20 points or more for the sixth time this season. Long recorded 20 points on Saturday night, but the Mountaineers were unable to pull off the win at home against UC-Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions defeated the Mountaineers 71-60.

Like the night before, Western (4-15, 2-15 RMAC) got out to an early lead against their opponent. The Mountaineers outscored UCCS (16-7, 12-5 RMAC) 20-14 in the first quarter and was ahead 34-31 at the break.

In the third quarter, Western extended the lead to six points with 2:23 left before UCCS went on a 9-2 run to end the quarter with the lead. Heading into the fourth, the Mountaineers trailed 50-49.

The visitors extended the lead in the fourth, taking an 11 point victory against Western.

The Mountaineers had two other players reach double figures on Saturday.
Harlie Williams (Jr., Norwood, Colorado) and
Sydnie Lengyel (Jr., Tempe, Arizona) each scored 12 points. For Williams it was her second straight game scoring in double figures. Williams has made it into double figures in scoring in four of the last five games. Lengyel also recorded a team high eight rebounds, two shy of a double-double.

UCCS' Jen Vigil and Tori Fisher led the game in scoring. Each added 22 points for the Mountain Lions.

Western will hit the road for their next games. The Mountaineers will travel to Fort Lewis College and Adams State University next weekend.
