GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's basketball had four players score eight or more points Friday night against the Colorado School of Mines. Despite the offensive output by the Mountaineers, the Orediggers were able to come away with a 66-52 victory in Gunnison.

Western (4-18, 2-18 RMAC) was down only four points, 33-29, after the first half of play. However, the game would be decided in the third quarter.

CSM (19-5, 17-3 RMAC) began the third quarter on a 12-0 run. The Orediggers would outscore Western 18-7 in the third.

The fourth was a different story as Western would outscore Mines by a point in the final quarter. The Mountaineers scored 16 points to finish the game.

Taylor Long (So., Moreno Valley, California),
Kaylynn Bush (Fr., Beaverton, Oregon),
Taylor Mayes (Sr., Hutchinson, Kansas) and
Sydnie Lengyel (Jr., Tempe, Arizona) each scored eight or more points. Mayes added eight points while Long and Bush each contributed nine points. Leading the Mountaineer scoring charge was Lengyel. The forward made 5-of-6 shots from the field, tying a game high 13 points.

Western will host Colorado Christian University Saturday night at 5 p.m. in the final home basketball game of the season for the Mountaineers.
