GUNNISON – Western State Colorado University men's basketball team will play host to Colorado School of Mines Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., then play the final home game of the season Saturday against Colorado Christian at 5 p.m. The team will host Parents Night Friday, and celebrate the two seniors on Senior Night Saturday.
 
The Mountaineers are led in almost every statistical category by one of the seniors, Danny Hopkins. Hopkins leads the team in scoring with just less than 14 points per game, in rebounds with nearly six boards per game, in free throws attempted and made, and in minutes. Hopkins is also second on the team with 84 assists.
 
The other senior, C.J. Schutt, has come on in the second half of the season to lead the team in scoring. Since the turn of the New Year, Schutt has scored 209 points, averaging nearly 15 points per game, and leading the team in scoring in five of 14 game. Schutt has also been the best shooter on the floor, making 64 percent of his shots from the floor and 76 percent of his shots from the foul line.
 
The only player to score more than Schutt is deep shooter Ben Beauchamp, who has one more point over the last 14 game stretch than Schutt. Beauchamp is shooting 39 percent from deep and averages nearly 13 points per game.
