ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Western State Colorado University women's basketball team came back from nine points down in the fourth quarter against Adams State University on Saturday night. Unfortunately, the Mountaineers were unable to complete the comeback as they fell 68-64.

Western (4-17, 2-17 RMAC) trailed ASU (3-19, 2-17 RMAC) 53-44 with 9:02 remaining. The Mountaineers would comeback to tie the game twice. Once at the 1:49 mark in the fourth and eight minutes later at the 1:41 mark.

Harlie Williams (Jr., Norwood, Colorado) led Western in scoring with 20 points, making 4-of-6 from the field in the second half, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Williams' 20 points is a season high for junior.

The Mountaineers were nearly perfect from the charity stripe on Saturday night. Western went 9-for-10 from the free throw line in the game, including a 4-for-4 performance in the first half.

Taylor Long (So., Moreno Valley, California) was also a big contributor for the Mountaineers on the offensive end of the floor. Long scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds.

ASU's Cydney McHenry led all players in scoring with 22 points.

Western will continue the season next weekend. The Mountaineers will host Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian in their final home games of the season on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20.
