COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Despite strong guard play, Western State Colorado University men's basketball team fell to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Saturday evening, 82-65.
Point guards
Will Duggan and
James Willis combined for 22 points, each with 11 to lead Western. Duggan was a perfect three-for-three from beyond the arc.
Monroe Porter,
Branden Cosby-Lee and
Ray Beresford all scored eight points for the Mountaineers as well.
The Mountain Lions shot 54 percent from the field, while holding the Mountaineers to just under 40 percent. Despite the overall percentage Western was hot from deep, making 11 three-pointers and shooting 48 percent as a team.
UCCS had four student-athletes post double-digit scoring, led by Elijah Ross's second-best game of the season with 19 points.
Western returns to action in the new year with a home game against Regis University January 6th at 7:30 p.m.
