GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Western State Colorado University men's basketball team fell to No.20-ranked Midwestern State University, 75-63, in the first game in the Holiday Inn-Airport Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Colorado Mesa University. Western will take on MSU-Billings tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
Ben Beauchamp had a game for Western (1-2, 0-0 RMAC), as he led all players with 21 points. A dozen of his points came from deep, as he hit 40 percent from the outside. The rest of his points came from the foul stripe, as he made it to the line nine times, sinking seven shots. Beauchamp also was tied for the most rebounds on the team with five.
Joining Beauchamp was
Patrick Sniff with 14 points. Sniff sank five of his seven shots, and made all four of his foul shots. He also had five boards.
Dishing out the rock for Western was point guard
Will Duggan. Duggan had five assists in the game, as well as eight points.
For Midwestern, Magnus Richards and Igor Ibaka combined for 30 points, led by Richards 18. They were joined by Pat Smith who had 11 points and was an assist shy of a double-double.
Western shot 33 percent from the field, including 28 percent from deep.
