PUEBLO, Colo. – Three Western State Colorado University women's basketball players scored in double figures on Saturday. However, the Mountaineers were unable to upend the Nanooks of Alaska Fairbanks, falling 72-55 in their final game of the Al Kaly Shrine Classic.

By utilizing a balance scoring attack, Western (0-2, 0-0 RMAC) led UAF (3-1) by a score of 36-33 of halftime. Five Mountaineers scored five or more points in the first half. Western shot 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from the field in the first half.

The Nanooks eliminated the Mountaineer first half lead in the third quarter, outscoring Western 22-5 in the third stanza. The UAF scoring attack was led by two players, Jordan Wilson and Jaylee Mays. Wilson scored 30 points, while Mays added 20, accounting for nearly 70 percent of the Nanook's points.

UAF shot 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from the field in the second half.

Five Mountaineers scored in double figures on Saturday.
Harlie Williams led the way with 11 points, while
Sydnie Lengyel added 10 and
Kaylynn Bush scored 10 as well.

Western's defense once again forced the opponent's offense into uncomfortable situations. The Mountaineers forced 23 turnovers and recorded 14 steals.
Carra Jackson-Brown accounted for five of those steals.

The Mountaineers will continue the season next Friday and Saturday at the Colorado Mesa University Holiday Inn – Airport Thanksgiving Classic. Western will face Western New Mexico University on Friday and Bethany College (Kan.) on Saturday in Grand Junction.
