GUNNISON – Western State Colorado University men's basketball team will host the 2016 Comfort Inn Classic this weekend. Western, Colorado Mesa, Dine College and Wayland Baptist University make up the field of the tournament.
 
Mesa will kick things off against Dine College Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by Western against Wayland Baptist at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday Colorado Mesa and Wayland Baptist University will compete at 5 p.m., followed by Western versus Dine College at 7 p.m.
 
The Mountaineers are coming off of two exhibition matches against Utah Valley University and the University of Wyoming. Five different Mountaineers scored in double-digits in one of the two matchups. Collin Smith combined for the most points and boards, scoring a total of 23 points and 14 boards in the exhibition season. Close behind him was Will Duggan with 21 points and Ben Beauchamp with 19 points.
