GUNNISON, Colo. – Seven matches remain in the regular season for Western State Colorado University women's soccer. Luckily for the Mountaineers, five of those seven come in the friendly confines of Gateway Field in Gunnison, Colorado.

Western (4-5-1, 2-3 RMAC) will have one of those home matches this weekend when the Mountaineers host UC-Colorado Springs (1-8, 1-4 RMAC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. It will be the eighth matchup between the two programs. UCCS holds a 2-5 series lead and won the last matchup in 2015 in Gunnison, 1-0.

The Mountaineers currently lead the RMAC in save percentage at 87.8 percent. Goalkeeper
Katie Simpson-Johnson is second in the conference in saves (64) and save percentage (.877).

Four players are tied for the team lead in goals.
Francesca Rand,
Paige Massey,
Andrea Grillo and
Jessica Kresl each have two goals on the season.

The Mountaineers open the weekend in a tie for ninth place in the RMAC with six conference points. However, this leaves Western just one win, or three points shy of tying fifth place teams, CSU-Pueblo and Adams State University.

The top six programs make the conference tournament. Colorado School of Mines and Fort Lewis College sit atop the RMAC standings with 12 conference points.

UCCS is currently 12
th in the standings, with one win and three points. The Mountain Lions enter the weekend riding a five match losing streak, most recently dropping a home match to ASU 2-0.

This season the Mountain Lions are averaging 34 goals against with a -2.78 goal differential. Michaela Mansfield and Bailee Jameson lead UCCS in scoring, each has three goals and two assists.
