GUNNISON – Led by
Molly Hothan and
Jordan Eatwell's outstanding hitting performances, Western State Colorado University women's volleyball team defeated Colorado Christian University in four sets (25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 25-15) to return to even in conference play. The Mountaineers are in a two-way tie for eighth in the conference a match past the halfway mark in conference play.

Hothan dominated the Cougars, hitting 20 kills on 24 attempts with only a pair of errors for a .750 hitting percentage. This is the second time this season that Hothan has hit .750 with double digit kills, tying the Mountaineer single-game hitting percentage record for the second time. She needed only one more kill to take the record, and was above the record partway into the third set.

The other star of the match was Eatwell, who had 21 kills and a .390 hitting percentage. She was joined by
Tori Gaherty with 13 kills. Another star in the game was
Allison Walker, who led the Mountaineers with 16 assists in the first and second set finishing with 49 assists, one of the best performances since the rally rule change in 2000.

Defensively, Hothan was a part of four blocks. Behind her
Amanda Maestas had 18 digs, leaving her needing just 11 digs to become the Mountaineer career dig leader. She was joined by
Logan Franek and Eatwell with 14 digs, while Walker had 10.

The Mountaineers as a team hit .277, finishing the match with a .414 hitting percentage in the fourth set. They held the Cougars to a .178 hitting percentage.
