DENVER, Colo. - For the second straight game, Carra Jackson-Brown (So., Denver, Colorado) led the Western State Colorado University women's basketball team in scoring. Jackson-Brown scored 14 points as the Mountaineers fell to Regis University 78-52.

Western (3-6, 1-6 RMAC) fell behind early as Regis (6-7, 4-3 RMAC) got out to a 20-9 lead in the first quarter. The Mountaineer defense held firm in the second quarter, but Western was unable to chip away at the Regis lead and went into halftime down 33-19.

After being held scoreless in the first half, sophomore Taylor Long (So., Moreno Valley, California) added 10 points in the second half. Long was one of three Mountaineers to score in double figures. Along with Jackson-Brown's 14 points and Long's 10 points, Sadie Stroup (Jr., Foresthill, California) added 10 points for the Mountaineers.

Western made a charge in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Rangers 21-20. However, the damage had been dealt by the Rangers as they took a 78-52 win.

Regis' Bay'lee Purdy led the all players in scoring with 16 points.

The Mountaineers will return to the court next weekend. Western hosts Western New Mexico University and New Mexico Highlands in Paul Wright Gym.
