GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University men's basketball team heads West to take on Westminster College in Salt Lake City Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. The team will then travel to Grand Junction to take on Colorado Mesa University Saturday evening at 7 p.m. This will be the first matchup between new Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference member Westminster and Western State.

The Mountaineers (4-15, 3-10 RMAC) are averaging more than 75 points per game. Almost a third of those points are coming from deep, as the team is outshooting their opponents 8.2 treys per game to 7.9. Western has also been very unselfish with the ball, distributing more than 15 assists per game compared to just under 13 for its opponents.

The leader of the team in assists is
Will Duggan. Duggan, one of two players to start every game, leads the team with assists (69) and steals (29). The speedster is fourth on the conference list in total assists and fifth in assists per game. He is tied for the lead in the conference in steals.

Danny Hopkins leads the team with 13 points per game. Hopkins leads the team in field goals made (81), free throws made (56), and rebounds (103). He is also second on the team in assists.

Right behind Hopkins is
Ben Beauchamp with 12 points per game. Beauchamp leads the team in made three point shots with 55. He is shooting 40 percent from deep and is third on the team with 46 assists. He is also tied for the most blocks on the team with seven.
