LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's basketball had three players score nine points or more against Colorado Christian University Friday night in Lakewood, Colorado. Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, the Cougars were able to utilize home court advantage, taking the contest 91-60.

Despite the loss, the Mountaineers had three players score nine points or more. Led by
Taylor Long's 11 points, Western's
Kaylynn Bush added nine points and teammate
Sydnie Lengyel also added nine.

Western (4-10, 2-10 RMAC) kept the game close through much of the first quarter of play against CCU (12-4, 9-3 RMAC). However, a late surge put the Cougars ahead 25-16 heading into the second quarter.

The Mountaineers were unable to cut into the Cougars' lead and went into the break trailing 49-29.

Western made an offensive push in the third quarter scoring 21 points. However, CCU was able to match the Mountaineers' intensity, scoring 27 points themselves.

The Mountaineers were unable to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, falling to CCU on the road 91-60.

The Cougars' Alex Nelson led all players with 21 points off the bench.

The Mountaineers will travel to Colorado School of Mines for a Saturday night matchup at 5 p.m.
