WBB | Mountaineers prepare for road trip

GUNNISON, Colo. – After two weekends at home, the Western State Colorado University women's basketball team will be on the road this go-round. The Mountaineers will travel to Lakewood, Colorado for a Friday night game against Colorado Christian University, and then head over to Golden, Colorado for a Saturday night game against Colorado School of Mines. Both games will start at 5 p.m.
 
Western (4-9, 2-9 RMAC) will face the two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents for the first time this season. While Western is sitting sixth in the RMAC's Mountain Division, CCU (11-4, 8-3 RMAC) is third and CSM (13-2, 11-0 RMAC) sits atop the division.
 
The Mountaineers' Taylor Long (So., Moreno Valley, California) continues to lead the team in scoring through the midway point of the season. Long is averaging 13.6 points per game, which ranks 10th best in the RMAC.
 
CCU just had a seven game winning streak snapped last Saturday. The Cougars lost to UC-Colorado Springs 74-69 on the road. CCU is led in scoring by Kate Louthan. Louthan is averaging 13.1 points per game, 11th best in the conference.
 
After losing their first two games of the season, CSM has won 13 games in-a-row, including 11 straight RMAC contests. The Orediggers are led in scoring by Courtney Martin. Martin is averaging 12.8 points per game, which ranks 12th best in the RMAC.
