COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's volleyball team fell victim to a late surge by Angelo State University (5-0) Tuesday at noon in Colorado Springs. The Mountaineers play their final tournament of the season Friday and Saturday in the CSU-Pueblo/UCCS Steel and Silver Classic hosted by CSU-Pueblo. Western State plays Texas Women's College and Eastern New Mexico University Friday, followed by Tarleton State and Washburn University Saturday.

The Mountaineers (2-4) took set one, 25-18, putting down 15 kills and committing just four errors. Western started out well in the second set, but Angelo State kept its slight lead, winning 25-22. The Mountaineers struggled with errors in sets three and four, losing both by a score of 25-18.

The tandem of
Jordan Eatwell (So., Fruita, Colo.) and
Molly Hothan (Jr., Ozawkie, Kan.) combined for 24 kills, led by Eatwell's 14.
Tori Gaherty (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.),
Avery Burkholder (Jr., Helotes, Texas) and
Hailey Rehage (Sr., Longmont, Colo.) all had more than five kills in the match as well. Setter
Allison Walker (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) had a season-best 40 assists, the sixth time she has eclipsed 40 assists in her career and only the third time in a four set match.

Defensively, Hothan commanded the net with four block assists, while
Logan Franek (R-So., Elbert, Colo.) had a team-high 11 digs.
Amanda Maestas (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) chipped in 10 digs.

For Angelo State, the trio of Mallory Blauser (14 kills), Brianna Sotello (12 kills) and Abbie Lynn (12 kills) combined for 38 of the team's 44 kills.Â
