WSOC | ThunderWolves blank Mountaineers

GUNNISON, Colo. - Coming off a 1-0 win over No. 20 UC-Colorado Springs on Wednesday, Western State Colorado University women's soccer was unable to find the back of the net against CSU-Pueblo on Friday night. The Mountaineers lost to the ThunderWolves 1-0 on the road in Pueblo.

A defensive battle usually means good news for Western (4-3-1, 2-2 RMAC). However, CSU-Pueblo (4-2, 2-1 RMAC) is also adept to shutting opponents down. The Mountaineers have recorded three shutouts this season, while the ThunderWolves have recorded four.

The first half was tightly contested as both teams hit five shots. Neither team was willing to give any ground and the match went into halftime scoreless.

The ThunderWolves put the game winner on the board in the 65th minute. CSU-Pueblo's Miranda Sochacki hit the back of the net after the ball was bouncing around in penalty box.

Western and CSU-Pueblo each put four shots on net in the match. CSU-Pueblo's Danelle Dondelinger led the match in shots with three. Western had six players notch shots and four different players notch shots on net.

The Mountaineers will continue their road trip this Sunday in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The Mountaineers will face New Mexico Highlands at 1 p.m. in Perkins Stadium.
