GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University kept their conference playoff hopes alive on Friday. The Mountaineers won their final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match of the season, defeating Adams State University 1-0 in Gunnison.
With the win, Western (7-7-3, 4-5-2 RMAC) grabbed sole possession of sixth place in the RMAC. However, CSU-Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands University are both sitting one point behind the Mountaineers with one more RMAC match to play. In order for Western to make the conference playoffs, Metro State University Denver will need to win against CSU-Pueblo and Regis University will need to win against NMHU.
Friday's lone goal against ASU (3-7-1, 6-8-3 RMAC) came in the 25

Ingrid Alvarez (Fr., Aurora, Colorado) scored the game winner, knocking it past the keeper from the top of the 18-yard box.
Earning a shutout in her final career RMAC match was Mountaineer goalie
Meghan Jedrzejewski (Sr., Longmont, Colorado). Jedrzejewski made five saves, earning her sixth shutout of the season.
ASU's Dezirae Armijo led all players in shots with four. As a team, the Mountaineers outshot the Grizzlies 15-13.
Western will conclude the regular season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Fort Lewis College. It will also be the Senior Match as seven Western seniors will play their final match at Gateway Field.
