WSOC | Seven Mountaineers to play their final matches on Gateway

GUNNISON, Colo. – For seven Western State Colorado University women's soccer players, this weekend will be the final two matches they ever play on Gateway Field. The Mountaineers end the 2015 regular season with matches against Adams State University on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and Fort Lewis College on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Western (6-7-3, 3-5-2 RMAC) enters the match seventh in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings. The top six teams make the RMAC tournament. With four playoff spots solidified, the Mountaineers are competing with five other teams for the remaining two spots. Western sits two conference points back from MSU Denver and New Mexico Highlands University and is tied with Colorado Mesa University at 11 points.

Friday's opponent, ASU (6-7-3, 3-6-1 RMAC), sits one point behind the Mountaineers. Sunday's opponent FLC (10-4-2, 8-2-1 RMAC), has already clinched a playoff spot. However, Sunday's match is considered a non-conference match, so the Mountaineers will need to defeat the Grizzlies on Friday to keep their playoff hopes alive.
