FB | Mountaineers to host Highlands on Family Weekend

GUNNISON, Colo. - After a 62-23 win last Saturday, Western State Colorado University football returns to Mountaineer Bowl. The Mountaineers will host New Mexico Highlands University at 1 p.m. this Saturday during Family Weekend on Western's Campus.

Western (1-5, 1-3 RMAC) is coming off an impressive 62-23 victory on the road against Black Hills State University. The Mountaineers went for 604 yards of total offense, scoring 38 points in the first half. The Western defense forced three interceptions and the special teams returned a kickoff for a touchdown for the the first time since 2003. The returner of that kickoff touchdown was Rodray Perkins (RFr., Mesquite, Texas), who took the kick back 90 yards for the score, earning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

NMHU (0-6, 0-4 RMAC) will be looking for their first conference win. The Cowboys fell to Colorado Mesa University last weekend, 31-6. NMHU is led on offense by quarterback Keith Moore, who is averaging 177.33 yards passing per game. Defensively, Don Carter has recorded four sacks on the season and will lead the Cowboy pass rush.

Families attending Saturday's game also have the option to purchase a 4x4 Family Pack. For $50 a family of four can attend both volleyball matches, Saturday's football game and Sunday's women's soccer match. The 4x4 ticket price also includes four drinks, four popcorns and four candy bars that can be redeemed at one of the home events*. Fans can either purchase 4x4 Family Ticket Packs online, or purchase them at the main entrance in Paul Wright Gym Friday night before volleyball or at Mountaineer Bowl before Saturday's football game.

For those purchasing tickets online, tickets will be held under the purchaser's name at the main entrance of each event.

*Please note, drinks, popcorn and candy bars can only be redeemed once during the weekend, but can be split between events (ex.: Two drinks at volleyball, two drinks and four popcorns at football). Popcorn and candy bars are not available at women's soccer matches on Gateway Field.

For those unable to make the trip, fans can watch a free live online stream of the game on portal.stretchinternet.com/gomountaineers, listen on KEJJ 98.3 FM in the Gunnison valley, or listen online at www.kwsb.org. Live stats will also be made available by clicking here.
